Here are some pictures of OP Loftbeds that our customers have built.
If you have built an OP Loftbed and would like to share your craftmanship
with the rest of the world, feel free to send us a picture. You
can be in the picture with your OP Loftbed if you want. We would
especially like to see the unique and creative ways that you have
decorted your OP Loftbed, but any pictures are welcome. You can
email digital pictures or scanned images to gallery@oploftbed.com.
(We realize
that loft beds are usually used in cramped quarters, but give it
a shot anyway!)
One very satisfied customer sent us this picture. "I did not build this twin tall, I had an OP builder come in, but I thought I'd show my decorating idea anyway. This is a sturdy bed that I'd say even the most adventurous and destructive kid couldn't budge!"

Check out the excellent finish that Ken did on his OP Loftbed. "Hi We are sending you some pictures of our son's loft bed . It was
built by my Father in law, and I spent about 30+ hrs
sanding, staining, and varathaning. Brady could not wait to sleep in it and
loves it.
We now have been able to enjoy the longer mornings as he was in a habit of
joining us in our bed in the wee hours. Thank you!" |

Tim's sons' room is HUGE but he wanted to
keep as much floor space as possible and do something interesting at the same
time. "These really came out nice. We just used the boys exhisting desks
they had and cut down the backs. There are 2 full sized lofts using your
plans in here foot to foot. If these pics don't quite show as you would like
let me know I can try again with the digital camera to get some from different
angles. Thanks!"

Julie in Denton, Texas tells us, "My husband Jack and I built this tall, twin for our daughter Maggie so she
would have plenty of room for all her critters, and the bed is PERFECT! We had
absolutely no problems with any aspect of the designs or dimensions. Every cut
and measurement was clear and accurate! It is so sturdy and now all the kids
in the neighborhood want their parents to build them one! Naturally, we pass
on the word about your plans, as we had such great luck and a great time
building it!
White semi-gloss enamel paint and hand-painted colorful underwater scenes
complete her aquatic decor!" |
 |
Nadine sent us this picture of the OP Loftbed that she built. "Thank you so much for the great plans and motivational photo gallery. The
ladder system was tricky for a 9 year old so we had to get creative but
otherwise the plans worked great!"

Meredith in Massachusettes built this great tall height full size OP Loftbed. She tells us, "I've been
driving from Boston up to New Hampshire every few days to work on it with my
uncle. We had a great time building it together, I learned a lot about tools
and constructing with wood. Thanks for such a sturdy, solid design." |
 |
Jim in Nashville, Tennessee writes, "Thanks for the awesome plans. I built this with a little help from my
friends. It turned out fantastic. My boy calls it "beefy." The lumber cost
about $115 (pine) and the bolts cost $25. The local
furniture stores carry loft beds but they are all made out of metal and are
not too solid. A wood bed of this quality ran way
over a thousand dollars.
Thanks again for the plans. Best ten bucks I ever spent."

Rob in Irving, Texas tells us, "I had been looking for a
bed that looked and felt sturdy. I had seen many wooden and metal loftbeds but
they all looked cheesy compared to this one. When I saw your plans one
evening I purchased the plans and set to building it the next morning. The
materials cost $150 at Home Depot. It took 12 hours to build but thats
because I only had basic tools and I made it on my livingroom floor. Lots of
vacuuming after the build! It turned out better than I had expected. I love
all the extra room. Thanks for the great plans." |
 |
Bob in Glendale, Arizona built this nice OP Loftbed for his son. |
 |
Roger in Circleville, Ohio built this fine OP Loftbed. "I used your design for my son's apartment at WSU. His friends keep hounding me about making them one. I may make my grandson a similiar bed. The directions were incredibily easy. My son wanted a wrap around design for the desk which took some thought on my part but the project as a whole was very well documented. The pictures of other designs helped when I got hung up on an item. I also find that hardwood paneling works great for the desktop. Reaped that little tidbit from Norm on 'This Old House'. Thanks, OP Loftbed!" |
 |
Charles and Heidi tell us, "We built this loft bed for our 8 year old son. He uses the space below the bed to play with cars and do his homework. This is a STURDY, easy-to-build bed. Now our 6 year old daughter is asking for a loft bed of her own." |
 |
Alan couldn't wait to take a picture of the first of two loft beds he is building for his daughters. "I did a little adjusting since the room the beds will be in does not have a
high ceiling. I used the tall loft bed plans but put the mattress height one
inch lower than the lowest position in the plans. Since I don't plan on ever
raising the matress, I did not make any further matress position holes and I
made the top of the legs proportionately lower. We plan to finish them in
polyurethane and let the girls embelish on that how they wish."
"They are the sturdiest beds I and my father (who help make them) have ever
seen! Also, I must say, the price of the bolt kits and service from Remco
Bolts was the best! Thanks for partnering with them."

Justin at the University of Missouri at Kansas City (UMKC) sent us this picture. "Here is a picture of my new loft bed with my desk underneath. Notice also the shelf that I made.
I sanded, stained, and added a coat of polyurethane to all the wood. Thanks for a great design. It very easy to make." |
 |
Maureen and her son Christopher built an OP Loftbed this summer. "It is too large to get the whole thing at once, but, as you can see, the double bed is on top, and the twin is on bottom, with little bookshelves and end tables built in. I stapled canvass duck cloth around the inside to give the appearance of being a separate room."

Jim explains these two pictures. "Obviously our college dorm room was not as spacious as we needed it to be! The solution to our overcrowded room was two loftbeds. We searched available options on the internet and ordered our set of plans online. We also ordered two hardware sets and they were delivered within a week. After purchasing the wood at a local hardware store we built the beds in less than a week for under $150 each. See the pictures we sent in our previous email. The quality of the product speaks for itself. We join your list of many satisfied students who have created their 'lofts' with OPLoftbed plans." |

Jessica sent us this shot of her OP Loftbed in her dorm room at college. |

Sue in Iowa built this great OP Loftbed. She writes, "Thank you for the great design. Enclosed is a picture of the medium loft bed I made for my 9 year-old daughter. I modified the design so that the bed comes apart in several large pieces. I used carriage bolts for a smoother look, and screws for the pieces that remain together permanently. This works well for us since we won't be taking it apart or moving it very often. The pieces are: front support, foot support, mattress support, long x-brace, and side rails. The ladder is removable, attached to the mattress support with ladder hooks. The ladder has rubber feet on the bottom to keep it from slipping. I used MDF to create a decorative headboard and foot board. Your design is just terrific. The finished piece is incredibly solid! It's a big hit with my daughter. Thank you!"
"I painted the border. My daughter picked out the quote. It's Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: "The love of learning, the sequestered nooks, And all the sweet serenity of books." Thanks to the OP Loftbed, she has her sequestered nook!" |
 |
Scott in Martinez, CA sent us this shot. "We built the loft bed for our 9 year old daughter while keeping our existing queen size bed where it was. It fits nicely over the foot of the queen size bed. We clear finished some 2x4's and 2x6's to match the room decor. We also painted a floral stencil on posts and other areas to match the existing room color scheme. A very solid bed!" |
 |
| Arlo in Universal City, TX sends us this picture. "I
made your Medium Height Full Size Loftbed after my Great Dane
(Kosmo) chewed up the queen size bed I had. My main reason for
the bed was to keep my dog off my new mattress, and I love it!
I even bought a full size futon mattress and placed it underneath
the loft bed for Kosmo, as seen in the photo. Great design,
very simple to make. Thanks for the great design and easy-to-follow
instructions!" |
 |
Sharon in Hurlock, Maryland built this black Queen size
OP Loftbed. She says, "Hi. I made your bed, and it's
really sturdy! That sucker is not going anywhere. :) I have
little skills but I managed to make the bed."
|
 |
Bo built a medium height OP Loftbed and writes, "While
I wasn't in the hunt for a bed, I couldn't resist the sturdy
OP design. The only modification I made was the added side rails.
Thanks for such a great product!!"

Robert wrote to tell us about his daughter's OP Loftbed
at Campbell University, "Maria and her roommate, Emily,
really like the loft because it makes such good use of the
space in their small dorm room, and it is so sturdy. This
is the second year they have used the loft, and other students
still come in their room and admire it. Maria always tells
the students about your company."
"You can also see the bed on the Campbell University
web page because her room was voted best looking room in the
dormitory."

 |
| William in Berkley California built his King Size OP Loftbed
using redwood. |
 |
Joe at Towson University writes the following
about his OP Loftbed, "I just wanted to say thank you
for creating these beautiful plans! (Best $10 ever spent!)
The final result seemed to be worth much more than I paid!"
"The bed took a total of 2 days (on and off) to build.
The end result? A sturdy loft bed that no one on campus can
compare too! I have a huge amount of desk space and the quality
of construction is top notch for even an amateur builder like
myself. Some friends of mine built loft beds but said they
had not seen anything like this. Thank you again!" |
 |
| Charlie in Moore, Oklahoma added a ladder to the OP Loftbed
he built for his daughter. He writes, "The loft beds had
to be modified to allow front entry because of both girls having
them and they stretched the entire length of the room. I spent
$125.00 and 12 hours to make the bed. The bed has received many
compliments at Oklahoma State University and has been sold for
a $75.00 profit at the end of the school year." |
 |
| Mike in Middletown, New York bult this bed
for his daughter, Katie. He writes, "She's 7 years old
and absolutely loves it. I made the ladder in place of the one
that is on the plans as it was easier for my daughter to use.
So you can see, I also made a desk underneath for her. Thanks
for designing such a wonderful product." |
 |
| Frank in Downey, California built this Full Size OP Loftbed. |
 |
Robert in San Diego, California built this
Full Size OP Bunkbed. He writes, "My daughter and her roommate
are using it in their apartment at UC Berkeley. They think it
is terrific, even if they don't do a great job of keeping their
beds neatly made!"
|
 |
Bruce in Grand Rapids, Michigan built this Medium Height OP
Loftbed for his six year-old son. Note the extra side rail and
the metal handles added to the ladder end to make it easier
for small children to get into and out of the bed. See
the handles in action! |
 |
Rob in Oregon City, Oregon built these OP
Bunkbeds for his daughters. He writes, "All in all, I LOVE
the beds (so do my girls). They are REALLY sturdy, and I'm sure
my daughters can't break these. They had some metal beds which
looked good when we bought them, but over time they bent, and
some of the welds broke. I didn't feel they were safe anymore,
so we decided to build these."

 |
David in Waterloo, Iowa also built this OP Loftbed for his
14 year old daughter Allison who did the decorations herself. |
